Vinyl Resist

Vinyl Tape Resist

Step 1: Place and cut vinyl tape  on a bisque fired pot (I chose to tape a wheel-thrown porcelain 8oz cup.) Be prepared to take some time on this step. This process took me about 45 minutes!

Step 2: Glaze the piece (I dip glazed in Shaner Blue-Green food safe glaze). Remove tape when the glaze is dry.

Step 3: Admire the final product! This piece was fired to Cone 10.

Custom Vinyl Resist

On greenware:

Step 1: Design a custom vinyl on drawing software (I used Sketchbook Pro on the iPad).

Step 2: Print the custom vinyl using a vinyl cutter (I used the Cricut) and remove it from the sheet.

Step 3: Carefully transfer the vinyl onto the leather hard pot.

Step 4: Cover with colored slip or underglaze.

Step 5: Wait for slip/underglaze to dry.

Step 6: Remove vinyl carefully.
